Semi Truck Power Inverter: Installation
You can use a cigarette lighter adapter to connect a small-load power inverter with current loads of 150 watts or less. This is ideal when you will not use large equipment or if you are only going to use the power inverter rarely.
For any appliances with higher current loads, approximately above 150 watts, use a power cable and connect it to the positive side (+) of your truck’s battery terminal. Use an in-line fuse or circuit breaker to prevent short-circuits. Make sure that you use power rings to connect the cables to the power source to secure it better to the battery post.
Semi Truck Power Inverter: Grounding Inverters
The ground wire should make direct contact with the bare metal of the truck or the negative (-) battery terminal. Also, make sure that the ground terminal has the same gauge as the power cable.
Locate the existing bolt or screw that makes contact with the truck’s body near the inverter. Then, unscrew or remove the bolt and clean it by scraping away the dirt and grime. To ensure that the ground wire maintains solid contact with your truck’s body, you can use a star washer. Slip a ring terminal underneath the washer after soldering it onto the ground wire, and then put the bolt or screw back on.

Semi-truck owners can use the power inverter to convert DC to AC power to run a variety of small appliances and electronic gadgets. When traveling and there is a need to power a laptop, you can use the power inverter to do so.
