How many times have you been venturing into the muddy trail only to find yourself high centered with the ruts deeper than your tires?
I have found that in this case, it is usually better to try to back out than move forward. While in reverse, try turning your spinning front tires back and forth so that the shoulders have a chance of grabbing the edge of the rut.
A lot of time this is the little bit of traction needed to start backward momentum. Once you start moving, use just enough gas to keep yourself moving, not too much, and don’t stop till you are clear!
